Job Description Phlebotomist and Sample Processor 

Employment Type: Full Time

Reports to: Trial Operations Manager

Pay Rate: Based on experience

 

About You

You have experience either as a Medical Assistant or a Lab Assistant and will join RDI to manage the sample collection process for our sample collection studies.

You are a skilled phlebotomist, outgoing and personable with patients and clients, extremely detail-oriented, and would enjoy the exacting requirements that working in a clinical research environment requires.

How you will help

The Phlebotomist and Specimen Processor is responsible for following phlebotomy, IRB and HIPPA guidelines and for processing the specimens collected accordingly. This position also requires data collection and documentation and preparation of samples for shipment to satisfy sample orders by our clients.

About the team you will join

At Research & Development Institute, we help scientists develop better laboratory tests. We were founded by a Scientist who invented more than 30 new lab tests and founded RDI because finding blood samples for his tests was the hardest part of the job.

Today, we help scientists all over the world get the blood samples they need to develop better and more accurate lab tests. We source these samples from the patients who visit the physicians in the large research network we have developed.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Collect and tag specimens exactly as outlined in each requisition
  2. Demonstrate effective collection techniques for all patient groups, including pediatric and geriatric patients
  3. Properly package each specimen and ensure that every specimen is delivered to the laboratory on time
  4. Read and understand the research protocol and follow it to ensure specimens are collected and store properly
  5. Fill out all research related paperwork, including conducting informed consent in some cases.
  6. Prepare shipping documentation and properly pack specimen for shipment including handling cold packs, dry ice and other shipment methods
  7. Review medical charts to confirm the donor's eligibility
  8. Maintain a high level of accuracy in completing documents and forms.

Education

  1. Certified phlebotomy license required.
  2. High School Degree. College degree preferred

Required Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability to draw on infants
  2. Excellent attention to detail
  3. Strong sense of service that's felt by physicians and their patients
  4. Experience with medical charts
  5. Willing to drive in a 25 mile radius to pick up samples and help doctor's staff as needed
  6. Must be reliable, punctual, and accountable.
  7. Strong typing skills
  8. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google Office Suite (Google Docs and Sheets)
